Stage 2
Our Year 3 and 4 students enjoy the challenge of moving beyond infant’s education with challenging and exciting learning opportunities provided by an experienced range of teachers. Building on the individualised and small group instruction of L3, students continue to be involved in Literacy rotations with specific reading and writing targets for all students. There is a strong focus on understanding and responding to a broad range of texts. We continue to instil in children a love of literature.
Students are divided into grade groups for their daily Mathematics lessons. With the use of continual assessment, teachers are able to target and differentiate instruction according to student need. Students enjoy the rigor of the Stepping Stones mathematics program supported by hands on and investigative tasks.
Wellbeing is at the forefront of all daily activities with clear structures, invigorating learning environments and high expectations on student conduct. Our supportive staff work to build strong relationships with students and their families so that students are constantly achieving their very best in all aspects of school life.
Leadership and extra-curricular opportunities include Student Representative Council, debating, PSSA teams and carnivals, public speaking, University Competitions, CWA Competitions, Creative and Practical Arts Groups, Buddy Reading leaders and Peer Support. Students also enjoy performing in the bi-annual school production and participating in special events such as Grandparents Day, Education Week, Naidoc celebrations, Book Week and Harmony Day. Weekly assembly items also give our students an opportunity to perform and showcase their learning.
Every second year, our Year 3 and 4 students love to attend an overnight excursion to Burrendong Dam. This is an exciting opportunity for students to develop independence, organisational skills and resilience whilst participating in a range of new and exciting activities.
