SUCCESS FOR OUR AGRICULTURE SHOW TEAM
On Tuesday 23rd and Wednesday 24th of August the school show team travelled to Dubbo to attend the Rabobank Merino Wether Challenge. The school took two teams of three weathers that were kindly donated to the school by Mr Ben Watts and Mr Graham Coddington. The show team have been generously supported by our local community through; donations to our sheep drive earlier in the year, cash donations and a special feed ration from MSM milling Manildra. The competition draws school from across NSW and there were around 50 teams of wethers at the show. With the community support and the hard work and dedication of the students, the show team performed exceedingly well moving from 30th in 2015 to 11th this year. We also had success in the junior judging competition where students are required to rank four fleeces and four sheep as if they were the judge. Sarah Fessey (Year 12) and Alyssa Watts (Year 8) both came 3rd in their age groups for fleece judging. This was a major achievement for them both as there were around 200 people in the competition and Sarah was against people aged 16-24. Alyssa also won the Outstanding Student Award for "exceptional effort and passion for the industry" for her dedication to the sheep across the two days. The kids had a great time and many local people who stopped by for a visit were very impressed. We would like to thank Mr and Mrs Betts for driving the students to Dubbo, Mr Watts for transporting the sheep and all of our community for their support. Please see photo gallery for more photos
